pCO5+
General characteristics
The pCO5+ universal programmable controllers offer specific features to improve efficiency in HVAC/R systems, particularly:
- flexibility of use, thanks to the availability of multiple product sizes (small, medium, large, and extra-large), I/O expansions, universal inputs/outputs, and USB ports;
- built-in drivers for controlling electronic expansion valves with Ultracap technology, ensuring the stepper electronic expansion valve closes in the event of power failures;
- connectivity, providing the most demanding designers up to 5 serial lines, 3 of which are always available, configurable in terms of protocol (CAREL or Modbus®) and type (FieldBus or BMS), plus 2 optional lines, also configurable in terms of protocol (Modbus®, BACnet™ , CAREL, KNX, LonWorks) and physical support (RS485, KNX). Versions are available with “Host” and “Device” USB ports for programming the pCO5+ with standard USB flash drives or direct connection to a PC without needing a serial converter.
The pCO5+ controllers are available in models that can be programmed using 1tool or STone development environments.

Programmability
Depending on the model, pCO5+ can be programmed using the 1tool development environment or the new STone development environment.
Security
Cybersecurity is a priority, and is constantly guaranteed on pCO5+ controllers through periodic security assessments. The STone-based models are in fact designed in line with the IEC 6244 standard (cybersecurity guidelines), integrating advanced features such as secure boot and digital signature with asymmetric encryption system.
I/O Flexibility
Up to 10 universal I/O channels, allowing custom arrangements of inputs/outputs. Thanks to the CAREL proprietary ASIC chip, the universal channels can be configured independently as analogue inputs, digital inputs or analogue outputs.
Performance
In addition to the standard pCO5+ models, HS (High Speed) models are also available, which feature higher performance in terms of application speed (start-up and cycle times) and upgrade speed, thanks to the more advanced CPU.
Connectivity
Three serial interfaces (FieldBus or BMS), two optional expansion cards and two USB ports. Choice of a wide range of communication protocols (e.g. Modbus, CAREL, BACNet, Konnex, TCP/IP, HTTP, FTP, DHCP, DNS, NTP, SNMP). STone-based models natively feature connection to CAREL apps.
Energy saving
The pCO5+ medium models are available in a version with up to two built-in electronic expansion valve drivers and an optional Ultracap module, for integrated energy saving management.
